I was fortunate enough to see the opening midnight showing of the new movie District 9, and it lives up to it's ad campaign and then some. |

Dale Neumann of Wisconsin prayed for God to heal his 11 year old daughter as she lay dying of treatable undiagnosed diabetes last year in March.
Today he was found guilty of second degree reckless homicide, and may spend the next 25 years in prison. |

Professor Gates sent a bouquet of tulips and a note to the woman who called the police on him earlier this month.
I feel sorry for what she had to deal with. She was labeled as a racist for simply being a good samaritan. She didn't mention race when she called 911. |

With the advent of Wolfram|Alpha
hitting the Internet yesterday any self-respecting geek has already

Torture is a heinous war crime that should transcend political
infighting. In a bid to absolve their cronies of any blame, Republicans
have tainted the debate by suggesting that some Democrats might also be
implicated, so we definitely don't want to start prosecutions!

In another sign that Republicans have gone off the deep end, Mitt
Romney makes an absurd homage to the American Revolution by suggesting
that the Democrats are the monarchists and the Republicans are the
revolutionaries.

Here are a few facts and opinions regarding swine flu. This comes not only from the many articles and professional sources I have read over the past week, but also from my own educational background. |

I’m very confused about this swine flu outbreak, or as they now call it, the H1N1 influenza pandemic. The “swine” in the swine flu name apparently makes some people afraid to eat pork. The pork industry is fighting hard to stop calling it by this name. People need to stop worrying about the name. This virus is not transmitted by food, so you can’t get it by eating pork.
Swine flu is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza virus that regularly causes outbreaks of influenza in pigs. They do not normally infect humans, but it does happen, obviously. These cases usually occur in persons with direct exposure to pigs. They spread like the regular flu. |
